What it is

KPV is a tripeptide (lysine-proline-valine) corresponding to the C-terminal sequence of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. It is classed as a melanocortin-derived peptide. It is supplied as lyophilized material for research use only.

Mechanism (technical)

KPV has been studied for its association with anti-inflammatory signaling, with in-vitro work examining a role for the melanocortin 3 receptor and studies noting PepT1-mediated cellular uptake. These mechanisms have been investigated in models of intestinal and epithelial inflammation. The molecular pathways remain under study.
