What it is

5-amino-1MQ (5-amino-1-methylquinolinium) is a small-molecule quinolinium compound. It is classed as an inhibitor of the enzyme nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT). It is supplied as lyophilized material for research use only.

Mechanism (technical)

5-amino-1MQ has been studied as a membrane-permeable inhibitor of NNMT, an enzyme that methylates nicotinamide. In preclinical work this mechanism has been investigated for its influence on cellular NAD-related and methylation pathways. Its molecular action on NNMT has also been examined in tumor-associated fibroblast models.
